Fast-Moving Financial Services Company Masters Change Management with MBG Provisioning


Goal

With thousands of retail branch locations all over the United States, this financial services company needed an efficient way to order and change voice and data services. Speed and accuracy were also necessary, because the company continuously shifts its branches and establishes new ones to meet customer and market demands.


Challenges

Historically, provisioning telecom services has been a slow and error-ridden process. For this particular financial services organization, time was literally money as it expanded or shifted its branch locations amid a highly competitive landscape. To accelerate the process of opening new locations and getting them up and running on its network it needed an automated provisioning system that would efficiently handle ordering of new circuits. Additionally, the company wanted to integrate provisioning into its inventory system, to enabling management of resources and costs, usage verification, and identification of billing errors each month in a centralized location.


Solution

MBG provided the company with a Web interface that uses XML to communicate with AT&T’s eBonding ordering gateway. This permits the company to place orders directly into AT&T’s system, eliminating the need to have the information re-keyed – where errors usually occur. Once the order has been placed or a change to a circuit is made, MBG’s system automatically updates the company’s circuit inventory to reflect the change.


Result

The company has cut the circuit ordering process down to seven days from the previously standard 30 days. Not only does this help a new branch location become operational more rapidly, but since the inventory is automatically updated, it also enables the company to track billing errors, both for services that are ordered and have not begun usage, or for services that were discontinued.
